Tata Group’s Zudio Plans Major Expansion in 2023-2024
The Tata-owned fashion brand, Zudio, is set to expand significantly in the next year. With a goal to launch an additional 250 outlets, this move would nearly double its store count, bringing it close to 500 outlets nationwide.
Inside sources highlight Zudio’s rapid growth, emphasizing its success as a major part of Tata’s retail initiatives. One executive from an international fashion brand, who preferred to remain anonymous, mentioned that Zudio’s growth has caught the attention of many in the industry, with rivals looking to emulate their business model.
In its seven years of existence, Zudio has significantly boosted the revenue of Trent, Tata’s retail division. Recent reports showed a remarkable 61% revenue increase for Trent in the third quarter of the 2023 fiscal year, reaching Rs 2,171 crore. The net profit for the same period also saw a 21% rise, touching Rs 161 crore.
During the first three quarters of the 2023-2024 fiscal year, over 150 new Zudio stores were established. Trent also manages over 200 Westside outlets across India.
Zudio’s appeal lies in its affordable fashion range, offering clothing for all genders and age groups, as well as beauty products and loungewear. Most of these products are priced under Rs 1,000. For instance, their website lists women’s kurtas for Rs 299, dresses for Rs 699, and tops for Rs 399. Men can find T-shirts starting at Rs 199.
Earlier this year, IndiaRetailing reported the inauguration of a Zudio store in Pune’s Amanora mall, which spans 11,000 sq ft on the mall’s ground level.
